Ab specific workouts

It’s summer time again and time to hit the beach. Are you looking for an ab specific workout that will really target those abs and give you great definition? Sorry, it doesn’t exist. What? That’s right. It doesn’t exist. Well, what about all those people doing sit ups and crunches?

Well, let me rephrase. Those are ab specific workouts. But, they are ineffective for getting the results you are looking for. And, you’re looking for results aren’t you? To get a great set of abs to take to the beach you need to focus on overall body exercises that work multiple muscle groups and not just the abs.

Why, you ask? Because, to get results you need to build muscle. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn. Exercises like leg lifts and crunches don’t burn a lot of calories and they don’t build a lot of muscle either. So, rather than do ab specific workouts we are going to do general whole body workouts. These include dead lifts and dumb bell snatches, bench press and clean and press.

I still don’t get it, those exercises don’t work the abs. Well, actually they do, indirectly. You see, because they are working multiple muscle groups at a time they also serve to work the muscles of your body core, or torso, which include your back and, of course, abs. but, more importantly they will cause you to build muscle and burn more calories. But, they don’t just cause you to burn calories because you are building more muscle. Because these compound all over body exercises actually cause you to exert so much energy your body goes into a metabolic shock and increases you ability to burn fat a couple days after your workout. Yes, even while you are watching TV. There are plenty more exercises where those came from and some surprising secrets about cardio workouts as well. If you’d like to know more Click here.
