Fabulous abs

Looking for a set of fabulous abs to show off at the beach this summer? A set of abs that make heads turn and people want to talk to you? Well, it is actually quite easy. The reason most people never achieve them is because they are eating incorrectly and then, when they exercise, they are focusing on the wrong things.

So let’s take it one step at a time.

The first step is proper nutrition. You are going to want to get down to 16% body fat if you are a woman and 10% body fat if you are a man. To do this, do not go on a diet. I repeat, do not go on a diet. A diet is a short term solution to a lifelong condition. What you are going to want to do is to fundamentally change the way you approach your nutrition. One of the reasons that the world is suffering from an obesity epidemic is that the foundation of most people’s diets are overly processed and highly refined foods. Avoid these as much as possible. My wife lost 40 – 50 pounds in a year just by eliminating soda from her diet. Eat fresh, real foods like vegetables and fruit, nuts, chicken, turkey, fish and beef or bison.

Once you have established a foundation of good nutrition it is time to focus on exercise. However, you will not be doing the exercises you think you will. There is no need to do any sit ups or crunches, at least not at first. Remember, the goal is to burn body fat and ab exercises simply don’t do that. However, the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn. So, the exercises you want to focus on are the bench press and squats, dead lifts, lunges, clean and jerk and a few other compound exercises that work multiple muscle groups at the same time. Not only do they build the muscle groups they focus, they will firm and tone your torso as well.

You will also want to start a cardio regimen. However, again, probably not the type you think. Most people spend half their lives on a treadmill in the attempt to get fabulous abs and they don’t need to. Remember, the goal is to reduce fat. You can spend an hour on the stairmaster and burn 500 calories. However, you can do just ten short sprints and increase your metabolism so that you are burning more calories all day long.
