Ab workouts that work

Have you spent months doing ab workouts and have yet to see the results? Are you looking for an ab workout that actually works? Well, I will tell you. But first let me explain why all your efforts have not paid off. It is impossible to spot reduce fat on your body. To show off your abs you need to lower your entire body fat percentage. Doing exercise that isolate individual muscle groups like the abdomen do not exert enough energy to burn the calories needed to see your abs. Consequently, even though you have rock hard abs by now, they are slumbering peacefully under a blanket of fat.

Now, this may come as a surprise. But the exercises you will be doing don’t seem to have anything to do with your abs. Take a look at these.

1. Military Press.
2. Clean and jerk.
3. Dead lift.
4. Squats.
5. Romanian dead lift.
6. Lunges.

These work everything but the abs right? Not exactly. They also go a long way to working the muscles in your core which include the abs. However, more importantly, they increase your body’s metabolism for days after so that you are burning the kinds of calories needed to see your abs.

The other thing you will want to do is start a cardio routine. But, no need to spend hours and hours running miles. What? You heard me. While running a mile does burn more calories than running ten 100 meter sprints, the sprints also serve to increase your resting metabolism rate just as the exercises above. Consequently, you are burning more calories throughout the day which, in time, will reveal your abs.
