Men’s ab workouts

The best workouts for abs, surprisingly enough, don’t focus on the abs at all. This is because you can’t spot reduce fat on your abs. This is also because exercises that focus on individual muscle groups don’t expend enough energy to burn calories or, more importantly, increase your metabolism.

The best ab workouts to do if you are a man or, for that matter a woman, are compound exercises which work multiple muscle groups at the same time. The following workouts will not only work all the muscles in your body but the core muscles of your back and, of course, abs.

1. Military Press. This exercise works the shoulder muscles primarily. However, because your core muscles are used to maintain balance it also works the back and abs.

2. Clean and jerk. This exercise works the back muscles, the muscles on the back of the upper leg, biceps and forearms.


3. Dead lift. This exercise works the back, butt and the muscles on the back of the upper leg.

4. Squats. This exercise works the muscles on the front of the upper leg, the muscles on the back of the upper leg, butt, Hip, and Calves.


5. Romanian dead lift. This exercise works your entire torso, legs and forearms.

6. Lunges. These will work your entire legs and butt.

While these exercises may appear simple, they will leave you winded and give you a killer burn. They will also increase your metabolism for 1-2 days after and enable you to burn more calories.
